Starfire is a rapidly growing manufacturing and fireworks display company in the Ebensburg / Johnstown, Pennsylvania region. With 30% growth in the past two years, the organization is building additional infrastructure, including the accounting and finance departments.

 

We are looking for a detail-oriented Accountant to perform and coordinate accounting duties within our organization. The Accountant's responsibilities include preparing financial reports, performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, assisting with audit preparations, and performing other accounting duties as assigned. This person will oversee A/P and A/R procedures, expense reports and payroll vendor. 

To be successful as an Accountant, you should have a basic accounting foundation, solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and strong financial analysis skills. The Accountant should also possess strong Excel skills, be highly organized, able to perform under pressure, and able to work with little to no supervision.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate accounting functions and programs.

  • Prepare financial analyses and reports.

  • Perform journal entries and AP/AR

  • Assist with preparing and monitoring budgets.

  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet and general ledger accounts.

  • Assist with annual audit preparations.

  • Assist Controller in Investigating and resolving audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance.

  • Assist in preparing federal, state, local, and special tax returns in conjunction with the external accounting firm.

  • Contribute to the development of new or amended accounting systems, programs, processes, and procedures.

  • Performing other accounting duties and supporting staff as required or assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.

  • 3+ years of previous accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Working knowledge of tax laws and GAAP.

  • Experience using isolved and QuickBooks Accounting Software preferred.

  • Strong financial analysis skills and understands accounting processes in manufacturing environment.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Strong organizational and stress management skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel.

  • Ability to train and manage staff.

  • Ability to work with little to no supervision.

WORKING CONDITIONS, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, AND EQUIPMENT

  • Works in an office environment. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to use a computer and other standard office equipment. Must be able to walk 2 flights of stairs to office location.

Salary $50K-$60K.
